Randy Habert

Randy has been involved in the game of baseball for over 4 decades.  A native of New York, Randy has held the position of head coach on the High School, College and Amateur baseball levels.  Randy's book on baseball drills, "The No Frills Skills & Drills Baseball Handbook," is due out shortly.  Randy now resides in San Diego and has coached and scouted in the area since his relocation 7 years ago.

Dan Gardella

Dan brings to SCGSS over 30 years of coaching and player evaluation experience. Dan's unique teaching style has made him a much sort after instructor at every level of play. Dan also is considered one of the best motivational speakers in the country and is currently listed with the World Speakers Association. He routinely speaks before corporate 500 company executives and sport teams who are looking for that psychological advantage and the winning edge.

Derrel Thomas

Derrel played 15 seasons in the Major Leagues.  He collected 1143 hits and stole 149 bases.  His career began as the #1 overall pick in the 1969 Draft by the Houston Astros.  His pure athleticism and tremendous versatility became Derrel's trademark and served as a testament to his adaptability and knowledge of the game.  As a Dodger, Derrel competed in Two League Championship Series and played on a World Championship Team.  Derrel now coaches a Collegiate Summer League Team in the Western Baseball Association which is a member of the National Baseball Congress.  His team the Rancho Belago Rockets have gone to Wichita twice to participate in the NBC World Series.  He also does several youth Baseball clinics throughout the year.  Derrel also does clinics with the Los Angeles Dodgers as well.

Brent Mayne

Brent was a solid defensive catcher and a excellent contact hitter.  He played his college baseball at Cal St. Fullerton.  In 1989 Brent was selected in the 1st round (13th overall) of the Major League baseball draft by the Kansas City Royals.  He went on to play 15 years in Major League Baseball for the Royals, Rockies, Giants and DiamondBacks among others. Brent played in 1145 Big League games and made a trip to the postseason with the 2004 Los Angeles Dodgers.

James Lofton

James was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1993 Draft.  He made his MLB debut in 2001 with the Boston Red Sox.  James played 14 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles organizations.  He is currently a coach of the Rancho Belago Rockets summer collegiate team.  They are in the Western Baseball Association which is a member of the National Baseball Congress.  James also has a Baseball Academy in Riverside County.

Bobby Castillo

Bobby played 9 seasons in Major League Baseball.  He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins.  Bobby won a world championship with the Dodgers in 1981.  He is currently very active working with the Dodgers.

Kevin Olsen

Kevin Olsen was taken in the 26th round of the MLB 1998 draft by the Florida Marlins.  Prior to the MLB draft Kevin pitched for the University of Oklahoma.  Kevin pitched at the Major League level from 2001-2003 for the Florida Marlins under manager Jack McKeon.  In 2001 Kevin compiled a 1.20 ERA and in 2003 he averaged a strikeout an inning.  A local talent born in Covina, California.  Kevin currently works as a pitching instructor out of Hitsville Batting Facility in Murrieta, California.

Rudy Law

Rudy played for 7 years in Major League Baseball.  During his time he played for three different organizations, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals.  In 1982 the speedy outfielder swiped 36 bases, and then in 1983 he stole 77 bases both times as a member of the Chicago White Sox.  Currently, Rudy is involved with several youth Baseball clinics.

Calvin Pickering

Calvin a 5 year Major League Veteran was drafted in 1995 by the Baltimore Orioles.  He also played for the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals.  He was born in St. Thomas of the Virgin Islands.  An imposing figure at 6'5" and 285 pounds Calvin was capable of hitting balls out of sight.

Ken Landreaux



  Ken Landreaux spent 11 productive seasons in the major leagues. During his tenure he played for the Angels for two seasons, the Twins for two seasons and with the Dodgers for seven seasons. Known as an excellent defensive outfielder and a very solid hitter. Kenny was seleted to the MLB All-Star team in 1980 and in the NLCS in 1985 against the Cardinals he hit .385.
